Incorporeal undead became almost impossible to destroy after clerical power and magical weapons disappeared. Entire regions were abandoned rather than defended. The scale, leadership and present boundaries of these haunted territories remain unknown.
HUMAN THREAT · 39 YEARS AGO
Many lands outlawed belief in the gods and magic. Witch hunters prosecute suspected believers with extreme severity, making the Safehold’s mission—and the knowledge carried by its survivors—dangerous even among ordinary people.
UNRESOLVED MYSTERY · 55 YEARS AGO
Strange towers appeared in many lands without any visible means of entry. Some were demolished or forcibly breached, but were reported empty. No origin, purpose or confirmed connection to the disappearance of magic has been established.
DIVINE CORRUPTION · DAYS 25–26
Green shards of diseased divine essence transformed a winter wolf and a dire polar bear, spreading pain, disease and violent endurance. Removed fragments could move towards living bodies, so the eight one-use vessels held by the party remain dangerous. The altered beasts were victims of the shards, not confirmed servants of Morgion.

Extreme cold opened a crossing into a small looping realm. Its weather and boundaries shifted, and dead outsiders slipped away because the damaged plane could not hold them. The party found routes back, but no stable boundary or safe method of travel was established.

Winter ogrelons attacked within the ice pass while a frost giant called to its pack beyond it; the giant never located the party, and its allegiance remains unknown. Farther below, ice trolls hurled heavy ice across the flooded valley and regenerated from wounds. Their encounter remains unresolved.

Sea Gricks waited on ice floes to lure larger aquatic hunters, and something much larger moved beneath the drowned lake. The party did not identify or engage that creature. Its form, motives and relationship to the Gricks remain unknown.
