Forgotten Deeds

Last charges, mercies without witnesses and duties completed after the powers that created them had fallen silent.

What survives

History remembers outcomes more readily than choices.

Most of these acts took place underground, beyond settled lands or before witnesses who could carry the story home. Some fulfilled obligations inherited from dead teachers and vanished faiths. Others were moments of restraint that left no trophy behind.

This ledger records deeds established in the chronicle. It does not turn suspicion into history: where motives or consequences remain uncertain, the uncertainty remains part of the record.

Fragments of a history that survives only because someone chose to carry it forward.

Deeds without monuments

The dying dwarven instructor entrusts the red gem during the fall of the Safehold

DAY 1 · THE LAST CHARGE

The Instructor’s Final Trust

Mortally wounded during the fall of the Safehold, the dwarven instructor entrusted Karl with the red gem and ordered the survivors to seek the dwarves in the north. The mission outlived the school and almost everyone able to explain it.

Ratmen with their alchemical device on the dwarven bridge before the battle

DAY 1 · MERCY BELOW

The Ratmen Were Spared

After the fighting on the dwarven bridge, Halen accepted the surviving ratmen’s surrender. Nothing in the wider world records that restraint, but an entire remnant lived because the party chose not to finish the slaughter.

Karl raises a holy symbol against the mummy-like guardians of Semunyae

DAY 13 · DUTY WITHOUT A GOD

The High Priest Released

The high priest of Semunyae had remained trapped after his death because no god came to receive him. The party cleansed the sacred place, defeated his former priests and completed enough of the forgotten rite for his soul to pass on.

A living blood elemental waits beyond an ancient portal beneath Laogzed's temple

DAY 22 · A LIFE RETURNED

The Blood Elemental Sent Home

Rather than destroy the surviving blood elemental, the party used the remains of the dead specimen to strengthen Laogzed’s diminished avatar and reopen the way. The living elemental was sent through the portal instead of being harvested.

A newborn ice elemental breaks free inside the frozen caverns

DAY 23 · THE NEWBORN SPARED

The Creature in the Ice

The newborn ice elemental was dangerous merely by existing, yet the party recognised curiosity in its attempts to communicate. They withdrew rather than destroy a being newly born into a world where it should not have existed.

Karl and his companions work within the red divine gem

DAY 23 · THE INHERITED RELIC

The Red Gem Reshaped

Karl carried the instructor’s trust into the gem itself. He accepted the backlash rather than sacrifice its remaining charges, leaving the stone unharmed and configured to hold clerical spells for the work ahead.

The concealed refuge beneath Sebastian’s deliberately ruined shelter

DAY 24 · A STRANGER’S SHELTER

The Refuge Restored

The company found Sebastian’s hidden refuge while its owner was away. They searched without stealing, reset the concealed entrance and its protective deceptions, and prepared to leave thanks rather than strip a vulnerable survivor’s home.

The party prepares the sabre-toothed tiger as a formal offering to the Wolf Lord

DAY 25 · A PROMISE KEPT

The Wolf Lord’s Due

Halen promised a formal offering after denying the pack its hunted prey. The party recovered and prepared the tiger, and Tanner completed the older rite beneath the named god. The unnatural fog withdrew and a wider slaughter between wolves and travellers was avoided.

The party completes the champions’ last prayer among Telchur’s menhirs

DAY 26 · THE FINAL PASSAGE

The Champions’ Duty Completed

The last champions taught the menhir rite and entrusted its ending to the company. Their shared prayer opened one final road home. The exhausted menhir then crumbled, its remaining duty and stored power finally spent.

Jargaluk Stone-Eater carries the five-man party beneath the glacier

DAY 27 · THE ENTOMBED GUARDIAN

Jargaluk Released

Toby and Tanner performed the rite that released Jargaluk Stone-Eater from his long entombment. The ancient guardian answered by carrying the company through the hostile water and ice to Telchur’s hidden sanctuary.

The five-man party leaves Telchur’s ice-coloured divine remains undisturbed

DAY 27 · EVIDENCE PRESERVED

Telchur’s Remains Left Untouched

Asuran recognised ice-coloured remains bearing Telchur’s divine character, fused inseparably into the surrounding glacier rather than deposited like treasure. Nobody touched them, attempted to cut them free or removed any material. The company preserved the site exactly as found for Telchur’s priest.

The imprisoned Mind Flayer speaking from behind ancient ice

DAY 27 · KNOWLEDGE REFUSED

The Prisoner Remained Sealed

The illithid offered knowledge and assistance in exchange for freedom. The company did not release it. Some later accepted a far narrower mental bargain, but the dangerous prisoner remained contained.

The party prevents crystal parasites from possessing the frozen Winter Knight

DAY 27 · A GUARDIAN SAVED

The Winter Knight Kept His Body

The company recognised that the corpse-shells were not the true creatures. They destroyed the exposed parasites and stopped one from claiming the frozen knight, preserving a servant of Telchur who became guide, witness and ally.

The party speaks with Telchur’s last priest inside the White Corpse

DAY 27 · THE HARDER ROAD

They Chose to Correct the Journey

Once the company learned that escape would leave the White Corpse grinding across the countryside, it chose to seek the heart and confront the planar obstruction rather than simply search for a way out.

Asuran uses his Mind Flayer boon to reverse the shard explosion and save Karl

DAY 27 · THE DEATH THAT NEVER HAPPENED

Asuran Gave Up His Second Chance

The raw Shard of Telchur exploded after the company forced its backlash inward. Karl received the full blast: his armour was torn apart and he was left beyond the reach of ordinary first aid. Asuran spent the one second chance granted by the imprisoned Mind Flayer and returned reality to the instant before the catastrophe.

In the course of events that remained, the shard never exploded, Karl was never wounded and his armour was never broken. The sacrifice was almost impossible for anyone outside the company to remember or recognise: Asuran surrendered his protection to prevent a death that history now said had never occurred.
