01

The warming tunnels

The Quiet Road

The party continued through the dwarven underways. The old tunnels gradually became drier and a little warmer, but otherwise the day passed without incident. Iron wheels rang against the track, dust replaced dripping water, and the darkness offered no fresh threat.

By evening they chose a place to rest and began setting out their gear.

02

A shape to the north

The Elemental

Movement in the northern tunnel interrupted the camp. A hulking figure of compacted soil and layered stone stood beyond the edge of their light: an earth elemental, silent and unreadable.

It did not attack. After allowing itself to be seen, it turned towards the wall and sank into solid rock as easily as a man passing through a curtain.

03

Beyond the wall

Through Living Stone

The party followed. The apparent barrier yielded around them, and the familiar underways fell away. On the far side waited a demiplane shaped entirely by earth: enclosed stone, warm mineral air and passages that felt less carved than grown.

They explored cautiously, testing chambers and corridors while keeping the route back in mind. Nothing immediately challenged them, but the place carried its own weight—as though the surrounding mountain were awake.

04

Shelter for the night

Gond’s Chamber

Asuran and Halen keep watch while Karl and Toby rest in an ancient stone workshop-shrine sacred to Gond
The party found a defensible chamber sacred to Gond and rested there for the night.

Among the rooms they found one marked by the ordered signs of Gond: tools, gears and the patient craft of hands working stone and metal. It offered shelter, a defensible threshold and the first suggestion that this strange realm had once welcomed makers.

There they made camp. The uneventful road had carried them across a boundary, and they slept beneath the gaze of a god whose works might still be moving around them.
